cookie stealing

    i have listen from many of my friends that they can hack anybody's account by cookie stealing.Can anyone please tell me what cookie stealing actually do,how it can be done by me and how ca i safe guard myself from this.

    If they are your friends way don't ask them?
    Anyway, perhaps they use a virus or spider. But it's a wrong thing.

    i went through some of posts on different forums and what i get is that accounts can be hacked by stealing a cooike of the person and through the browser the person can log in to his account.

    Ok, sure, some accounts, particularly those dumb enough to store full login information in a cookie, can be used in this way. But not every account for every programme - just badly developed sites that do stupid things like that.

    If you want an accurate answer, you'll have to be more specific like - what account? where? what web site? what application?
