I don't think the registration is the total problem. I have a site that requires registration and it gets about $40,000 a month in sales. Here is what I would do: 1) Find out what search terms people are using to get to your website. I had an affiliate that brought us tons of traffic, but hardly anyone was purchasing from his referrals. The problem was that the pages he developed were not designed for potential customers so therefore no sales were converted. Is your traffic coming from the US? If so, no one is going to ship a treadmill from the UK to the US. 2) You should be able to analyze your abandoned baskets. Those that took the time to registered but that did not purchased product should still have an item in their basket. Call them up and ask them why did not purchase and entice them with a discount or coupon code. 3) Install a live support chat program and communicate with the customers on-line to determine what is keeping them from buying. Like the pervious poster said you can disable registration, but I suspect the total problem is a little more complicated than that. 1/7

I have a feeling this may be your problem. I also require shoppers to register, but they can fill their shopping cart without having to register first. That way they can see the total of their bill before having to go through the registration process. But my items are also much lower in cost than yours. What I might suggest is adding a few pages on the benefits of exercise, nutrition advice, maybe some equipment reviews, etc. For example, I have on my site the history of perfume, tips for using fragrances, the different types of strengths, etc. Just a little something that might answer some questions for the customer.
Is there a way, when a person leaves with somthing in thier basket you can make a pop up saying for example "You still have items in your basket, would you like to buy them now" I am interested in this thread as I am having similar problems with an enquiry cart I have
Also, make sure your site keeps up to date. Easter is over. Plus, if you're going to have a sale make it big, make it mean something. People like deals, especially if there is a time limit. Create some urgency for people to buy now!
