I'm considering converting my main site from a conventional css\html format to a Wordpress blog format and am wondering if there are any SEO advantages or disadvantages with this. I would host it on my server rather than with Wordpress. It's quite an old site, it's a .com, it's PR 3 and most inner pages are PR2. My motives for possibly changing the format are that I don't have any more space to add new content to the pages, unless I keep adding new content and make visitors scroll down the page. I'm not fanatical about Wordpress, it takes more time to edit a Wordpress site than a conventional site, it takes longer to load and it's probably more cluttered with code than a conventional site. I also suspect that no matter how good a Wordpress site is it will always look like a blog, and that a blog isn't as desirable as a conventional site. Plus there's the compulsory link back to Wordpress, although I realize that it deserves some kind of credit. As far as I can see, the only advantage of a Wordpress site is that it's easier to update it, but the question is, does this one (in my view) advantage outweigh the (in my view) many disadvantages?
using css will decrease your page size and i think it will help search engine bots to crawl your site
Thanks for the comments, thought the Wordpress link was a kind of condition for using their template, must be wrong
