converting .mod to shareable format

    I own a JVC(GZ-MG50AA).Its files are like 250mb for a 2 min video etc.I wanna reduce the size and convert it to a shareable format, how do i go about it?
    P.S:I lost my cd and the entire box actually and i did try googling it with no luck :(
