I'm playing around with my new iMac and I want to try out the iMovie program. Does anyone know of any Macintosh compatible (free would be nice too) software that can convert a DVD into a mpeg?
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/36/59/ Found by searching on Google for "DVD to AVI" Mac site:http://www.videohelp.com Result: http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?formatconversionselect=DVD to AVI videohelp.com has lots of great artcles like this.
Thanks for the post . Unfortunately, the program "Forty Two" that is supposed to perform the magic doesn't work. And, apparently I'm not the only one that can't make it work: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Forty-Two#usercomments Any other ideas?
How about this one? http://mac.softpedia.com/public/cat/21/21-76.shtml it says it's free. http://mac.softpedia.com/public/cat/21/21-7.shtml says it's shareware. It might only encode like 30 mins because they want you to buy. http://mac.softpedia.com/public/cat/21/21-132.shtml says free as well. http://mac.softpedia.com/public/cat/21/21-137.shtml this says free as well. OR http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ this one is shareware. Any of these seem like they'd work? Sorry I've only done this for Windows.
I know a software which can help you to do this. The uSeesoft DVD Ripper for Mac. It can help you rip DVD to MPEG. Besides, it can rip DVD movies and convert to all popular video/audio formats, like AVI, MP4, 3GP, MPEG, MOV, FLV, MP3, M4A, WAV etc.
i often use leawo dvd ripper.this software is both easy to use and powerful functions.you can have a try.this dvd ripper can perfectly convert DVD to video among popular formats, including DVD to AVI, DVD to MP4, DVD to MPEG, DVD to WMV, MP3, 3GP, AAC, and more video/audio formats.
As video DVDs use MPEG-2 as codec, it is not suitable for editing. Handbrake also does not output anything useful, as it uses MPEG-4 codecs like H264. .mp4 is a container for such a codec. And MPEG-4 is also not suited for editing. You can get MPEG Streamclip and open the ripped DVD folder with that application and convert to a .mov using the DV or Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC), as those are meant for editing. But you need the 20USD QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component for that, which you can get at the Apple Online Stor, you could try Daniusoft DVD ripper for Mac
MOV is a file extension used by the QuickTime-wrapped files. You can convert DVD to mov file. How to Convert DVD to MOV form: http://convertdvdtomkv.com/convert-dvd-to-mov.html
Get a DVD to QuickTime movie converter for Mac. it should convert your DVD to iMovie or Quicktime video.
I should to say Leawo DVD Ripper is really great after I tried it. Here is the home page (http://www.leawo.com/dvd-ripper/ ), if anybody is interested in it just like me.
hell of an old post you guys above opened up, but I guess someone will still find it useful today. For me I've used Any Video Converter freeware for years now with no prob's, although I'm a PC user they have a Mac section too. http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ for mac: http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_mac/
