Can anyone point me in the direction of any free software that will allow me to convert a word document into a PDF file? Thanks =)
I use http://www.primopdf.com/ and found it to be better than pdf995 and there is no sponsorship page that comes when you use pdf995
Yeah, the sponsorship page can be annoying if you use it a lot. Guess they need to make some cash though.
I have OpenOffice which is basically the free version of Microsoft Office. It has a pdf feature included. You create your document, then click the button and its done. Way easier than pdf995.
Does it alow masking urls like using hyperlinked keywords? Both pdf995 and primopdf can't handle that
May be I am digressing here, how can one get just one application of openoffice, like if I just want spreadsheet application, where and how to get that.
you can't OpenOffice is expressly described as a "office productivity suite." http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/features/1.1/index.html
To begin with I wouldnt use FREE software I know everyone wants stuff thats free - but the free PDF converters usually do more harm than good, mainly because you dont have the ability to protect your document. So with a free PDF converter you are pretty sure people will steal your work and you have no way of protecting yourself So I would say as the proper PDF converters are so cheap, then go out and buy one However there is a free one included with the openoffice.org word processing suite, which is an alternative to MSWord. You could try it if you just want to produce PDF's and dont really care if someone steals all your work - personally I wouldnt take the risk
Move to WordPefect. They have had a conversion to PDF built-in for years. And you have the advantage of a real word processing tool rather than a business memo tool like Word.
