Converting A Site From Frames to Non-Frames

We have a site that was built with a frame. The left side frame is called left.html The main body of the homepage is called body.html And the main website page is called home.html

so, when someone goes to ourwebsite.com - they get sent to ourwebsite.com/home.html And this page of course shows the left.html file and the body.html file

now, if the user clicks on say - games.html - in the browser bar - it still shows ourwebsite.com/home.html - the left.html menu stays the same - and the right side displays the games.html content

    a classic frame site.

this website ranks #1 for an important keyword on Google. So we are very nervous about removing frames and designing this website normally. But, we do want to improve the site, and move on from frames.

google seems to have indexed - www.ourwebiste.com - but of course when you click the result - - the user ends up on www.ourwebsite.com/home.html

and, Google has ranked other pages, such as ourwebsite.com/games.html and on those pages- the users goes directly to those pages and doesn't land on
a page with the left.html frame

    what are your thoughts?

could we move beyond frames without losing our SEO Rankings? What would be the safest and cleanest ways to do this?
