Converting a raw AI (adobe illustrator) file?

    I have to open an AI file, but it is showing as a raw file (even though its name is still AI) due to the fact that I accidentally set an alternative programme to open AI files.

    Can soebody advise me as to how I get AI files to 'look' like AI files again!?

    Open any folder.. Go to Tools>Folder options>File type
    Choose AI file type and click on change. Choose Adobe Illustrator. click ok

    Alternatively you can right click on the AI file and choose Open With,
    Choose Adobe Illustrator from the list and check "Always use this program to open this file type" option..
