Convert PC into Web Server for Hosting MP3s

I want to start a mp3 song website but the biggest problem which is stopping me from doing this is that I can't afford the Highly Priced MP3 web hosting from FDC servers (Which I thinks 99% of site use for MP3 Hosting). Anyway I don't want to know about any other better web hosting provider.

I want to know that is it possible to use my computer as Server for Serving the MP3s ? I know it will need a powerfull PC and High Speed Internet Connection, by luck I have both.

How fast is the upload speed on your Internet? I doubt it's anywhere as fast as it should be, and most likely against your ISP's terms of service to run a website. It's against most TOSs.

To get it to work though, you will need to install some web server on your computer. If you use Windows, you can install and run IIS.

    Thanks For Your Reply,
You are right I don't have Speed like web hosting providers like 10GB/ps but I think what I have is 4MBPS is okay for normal site while startup. And I have a business plan from my ISP so I think it will be not against there TOSs also.

You are right I am on Windows 7 and Can Install IIS easily but can you tell me which features I should install just for getting web accessible link to my MP3s, I don't want to host complete website on PC.

You do realize that 4mbps is extremely slow, right? You also have to make sure that is the upload speed and not the download speed. The download speed for your Internet connection is not what you're going to use to serve files.

I deal with Linux normally and not Windows, so I can't help you with IIS. Even though you aren't running a complete website, you still have to install a webserver, as that is what is used to serve the files. I googled this page: http://www.tech-faq.com/how-to-configure-iis-to-host-my-web-page.html
Not sure if that will help.
