convert MOD movies to import into Windows Movie Maker

    I have a bunch of MOD files from my JVC Everio that of course I can't import into WMM.

    So my question is:

    Is there a FREE conversion utility (maybe on sourceforge?) that will convert my movies to something editable in WMM?

    Speaking of WMM, is there a FREE alternative on the PC or Mac that will do simple video editing?

    After Affects and Premiere are overkill. Basically need to reduce the file size, add a digital watermark and some minor transitions and credits.

    Give handbrake a try. Can't remember if it'll take *.mod's but I believe it will.

    I checked it out and I can't find anything regarding MOD files.
