Hey guyz, Is there any way to convert images into clip art style. What i want to do is i want to create a Sleeping Dog on Bed logo... But i need a cute dog clip art so that i can draw it easily, my client suggested me some images and he want me to convert them in to clip art style. So i don't think so that i am this much perfect in Art and can do that job. I can trace it but it's gonna take my days.. So i was thinking about any tool which can convert images into clip art... Thanks
to me, clip art is artwork that is small in size and simple......but there are just as many styles of clip art as there are of any art. it's a format not a visual style! Can you send examples of the style of artwork you're looking for?
If you have Illustrator CS3, you can now convert raster images into vector (and it works incredibly well - better than you'd imagine). Just import the raster image, select it, and click the arrow next to the button at the top of the screen that says "Live Trace". Choose something like "Photo/High Fidelity." Then, click the new button that appears next to it called "Live Paint," and it will turn into a vector with tons of selection points. Of course, you can play around with the variables to refine it more.
@markn26: The live-trace feature in illustrator doensn't work better than I'd imagine, it actually works less well than I'd expect based on using other tracing software. The single best vector tracing software, if that's what you're going for it vector illustration, is PoTrace, which is also built directly into the Inkscape vector editor (just as good as illustrator, I'm a professional designer and I use both in order to get my work done and done well) The good part is, Inkscape, as well as potrace (because it's included in inkscape) are open-source (free download at inkcape.org) and cross-platform, I've used it successfully on MaC, Windows and Linux for years. Also, do check out the free existing vector illustrations and clip-art at Open Clip Art project, and why not do a creative commons vecotr image search or search for images you can use on Wikimedia Project, they are often under some sort of free licence and also have a large repository of vector images.
Thanks alot for your suggestion but it doesn't work well... sorry.. By the way such type of tracing option have in flash as well thanks
