1) What issues will arise or can arise if I Convert a Html Site To Wordpress since wordpress is a database driven site... Converting my existing html site to wordpress at : www(dot)newyorkhardmoneyloans(dot)com 2) Is this something I can do by myself I am hosting with hostgator at moment this site ? 3) How would I do this conversion myself, the problem I am having is that the site is already up and running so how do I create another wordpress site to replace the exising one and then transfer the content from all the pages to the new wordpress site won't there be problems with the links to existing pages on html site not aligning up correctly with the pages set up on wordpress
in general your website is too easy to convert... there is not a lot of links and content... Sure when you will convert or decide to convert you have to keep your old links.. to do that and before starting : - Make a Structure of Your links - Write down the Categories you will have to create - Make a list of the plugins you will need i hope this help! if you will need any assistance just ask !
Well, if you plan to take your HTML site and then blow it out into something awesome, migrating it to wordpress makes a lot of sense. There are a LOT of vendors out there that specialize in HTML to Wordpress conversion and I would highly recommend you farm out the work instead of doing it yourself. It's just not worth the headache, and honestly, the prices are really low for something this simple.
I agree with duke...source the work out to someone else. Its not worth it for you to spend the time learning it unless this is something you want to consistently do. Even then, it may be cheaper to source it out then to learn it yourself.
Procedure - Create a sub domain, dev.domainname.com and set it to point to a directory other than what domainname.com is pointing. Edit robots.txt to prevent any bots (including google bot) to access or index your content. Install WordPress and configure the settings. Install and configure a theme. (Default theme with a custom header is not bad) Install and configure plugins for SEO, Social Media sharing, FB, Lead capture, contact forms etc. Create posts (set a link structure similar to your existing link and update existing contents ) using it's back end. if URL structure is different, then you have to redirect older links to new ones that can be done by tweaking .htaccess Configure sidebar using drag n drop widgets. Now remove the robots.txt We need to change the value of website address from dev.domainname.com to domainname.com in mysql database via PhpMyAdmin. Point domainname.com to this new folder that has these wordpress files and delete the sub domain dev.domainname.com Generate a sitemap and submit in Google webmaster tool for your changes to reflect in Google search But minute errors & mistakes in following above procedure could make your customers not like your site as it might go offline. So it's always advisable to hire a pro who knows what he's doing, like people have suggested above.
A very beaturiful guide by spujap. 1 year ago, I got help from a conversion company and they did very well for my website but some of the URL's were not according to the structure and I had to manually adjust.
