I have searched the forum with no luck. I am helping a non-profit build a new site and i have found the design they want, and started on it, but would like to convert the word press theme TO html. I did some googling and tried some things people have advised but it never comes out right... is there a simple way that is inexpensive? Theme location is www.lakeozarkpolice.com/wp/ Thanks Bill
Stealing is not only unethical but also, illegal. Try to create it using HTML and CSS rather asking for ripping-guidance. Just a thought
Wordpress generates standard HTML so it already is in HTML... if you however want to do away with Wordpress completely and have a static site then your best option is just to recreate the site from scratch. Use the source code generated by Wordpress as a guide but you'd have to leave out all the WP bits and bobs.
For your information i am not stealing, it is a free theme and i left the host at bottom as required, So keep your opinion to yourself.
Thanks Guisbar.. i have the wordpress theme started in the previous post, and it is a free theme, just easier for me to do it in html and tweak it. Appreciate it!
Since you already have a visual example of the site, creating it using HTML + CSS is probably the easiest way. It will save you time in the long run when you need to make a change.
I said the same thing. copatlarge You could have just easily said, it was Free at the beginning besides, who knows if you are lying. I know of a method which is FREE but, your attitude sucks! Go ahead, 'pay' the guys for this work!
Ok first off geek, I'm not lying. Let me rephrase it so my third grader can understand it and my apologies to anyone who didn't understand. I work for a police department and also do the IT work for them. I also volunteer for the child advocacy center, a non profit organization that helps children. They ask me to build them a new site and I found a free word press theme that they liked and started customizing it for them. I want to convert it to HTML so i can tweak even further. Can anyone help me with this besides geeks with attitudes ? Thank you Bill
Hello Bill, Why don't you use wordpress instead of HTML? It is much easy to manage sites from wp admin. If you want to make it static HTML, use FireBug to get HTML and CSS codes. Also one more thing you can do. Use page source code for all necessary pages and keep the CSS in the same folder. Also you have to have all images in the proper location.
In your client side, the wordpress page has already been converted to HTML. Just view the source code in your browser. Just as The Sufi said, It is much easy to manage sites from wp admin. Is there any reason you don't use Wordpress?
I don't mind using wordpress but I don't know it that well or have time to learn it before they want their site done. This particular free template they like, for instance doesn't let you put a menu on top just the side bar.. Etc. Thank you Sufi Bill
I guess you missed the part about non-profit where they run off of donations... they can't afford to hire someone thats why i was asked. Why is everyone so difficult on here? If you are not going to help or give logical suggestions then keep your comments to yourself. Thank you
This can be done easily using WordPress as well. I suggest that you should use WordPress for this, since the theme is already coded for WP and whatever you require to make it look like a static page can be done easily. If you really cannot figure out how to do it, there are web programmers / coders experienced with WP who can do it for cheap, if you explain the situation about your organisation being a non-profit one. Converting the theme into HTML is hard work, and there may be problems in the process (such a missing image or CSS styling, etc.).
