To my knowledge this is not something that you can do with HTML. However, you should be able to do this with PHP, but it requires having some server side modules installed that aren't very common on a shared hosting provider from my experience. If you're ok with using PHP and you think you can get these modules installed on your host then I would suggest looking into getting GD library.
