Conversion Rates for Link Units?

    Hi All,

I've searched the forum here and though there has been a little bit of discussion on this, not a lot has been said. I'm wondering if anyone has what they would consider good conversion ratios for Link Units? And by conversion I mean the actual two clicks that are needed in order to be paid.

It would seem to me that, if placecd properly, Link Units are a good complement to the existing AdUnits on your page. I have yet to try. For example, here's a page where I would think the Link Units convert relatively well:

    http://www.hairlosstreatmentsproducts.info/ (not my site)

Anyone have any experiences/statistics/thoughts on this?

    Thanks,

    - Dave

I find that the horizontal link units work particularly well. For example, I've got them displayed fairly prominently on EricGiguere.com and they always surprise me as how well they do. I've not really tracked the specific conversion numbers. But the horizontal link units are particularly well-suited to sitting just underneath headers and bread crumbs (navigational aids) and that's why they work. Simple and unobtrusive, kind of like Google's own home page...

Yes, I think blending works best in most cases, but you have to adapt things to the site. If you look at my BlackBerry programming page for example, you'll see that I already use different colored areas to set off different parts of the page header. So using a different color for the background of the horizontal ad link units made a lot of sense -- for this particular site.

I wrote about this before in my blog entry Horizontal link units work best. But every site's different!
