This Conversion Optimizer thing is very touchy! Some days it seems to perform well....and other is does terrible. And its weird how you need to bid higher in order to reach your average goal which is much lower. Does anyone have any advice about this.....also what happens if I go in and pause a few words....does it throw off the whole adgroup....or can Conversion Optimizer still function correctly while im making keyword changes?

I have been doing a lot of reading on this and it seems that the Conversion Optimizer needs to run for a couple of weeks to actually start optimizing. It automatically reviews the data and modifies the campaign. The way that some are explaining it is that it has to fail before it succeeds. I started the Conversion Optimizer today and I plan on being patient for a few weeks.

Ok here's my update... Prior to using the Conversion Optimizer, I was doing well with an average CPC of about $2. I started the optimizer this morning. I made the mistake of going to lunch and when I came back, my average CPC was $8 and I had spent my daily budget with zero conversions.

I retract my previous post and will stick to manually handling my CPC from now on. Sure, the "experts" say to give it a few weeks so that it can correct itself, but there is no way that I can afford a few weeks of $8 per click. Clearly the optimizer is not good for my type of campaign, which is low traffic, high priced merchandise.
