I'm working on an affiliate program that pays when someone signs up for a free membership. I just started on affiliate marketing, so I don't know how well these programs convert, but I assume it is high since it doesn't require the visitor to pay or take extensive action. Does anyone know if these programs convert well? So far, Adwords generated 70 clicks and the program converted only 5 times. Conversion rate isn't that high... Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.
In my experience, I usually see a 10% response rate followed by a 2-3% conversion rate. Unless your consumer is specifically targeted and wants to join, chances are they won't even sign up free because they know they are going to be sold a membership after their 3 day trial. Or the fact that they will start getting emails they dont want from them...
The ratios Grant suggested are correct for our industry ( IM ) It's all a numbers game , the more people you can get in front of your ad the more chance you have of a sale. Jason
Thanks for the numbers... i guess I need to work on my Adwords budget to keep it low... right now i'm losing money on adwords... but it's the learning curve that I guess most newbies go through in the beginning...
Dude, start with Craigslist first. When you start out IM you should never pay for traffic, because you don't have to. I guess if you were in a hurry to sells something, you can use Adwords, but otherwise post ads, threads, articles, to directories, etc., and you will be fine... Just my $0.02...
