    Like I started a forum on the 1st of this month. I have 40 members and 300 posts now but most of those posts are made by yours truly and 4 of my friends. Only those 4 friends are active and contributing to the forum

    1. what should I do to convert inactive members active
    2. I get about 140 to 150 UV per day but only 20 of them converted so far what more should I do to convert those potential members,

    Here are the traffic stats

    * 29.68%
    Direct Traffic

    * 44.09%
    Referring Sites

    * 26.22%
    Search Engines

    Website is the one in my signature

    It sounds logical to me that if there are interesting threads - people will be active and will participate.
    What you and your four friends can do is start writing interesting threads (this could be easily outsourced as well)

    Exactly but finding the right threads?? How to know what's interesting?? Are is it okay if we shoot randomly in the dark??

    I don't want to try outsourcing it will be copy and paste for sure!!

    What's your topic / niche?

    If your forum is about laptops then write about the latest Asus EEEPC for example.

    If it's a general forum I have no idea what to do :D

    The best solution would be to start something controversial in your forum but related to the topics that you have in there. Ask one of your friends to post some controversial topic but see that it should be within limits and not attacking any forum member, although if you like you can ask two of your friends to start some mock war of words and the remaining two friends can add a little "fire" in to that topic.

    This tactic usually works and then members who are inactive usually also start posting on other topics. It's like they get some new life in them. I have tried it many times with 95% success rate in many forums of my clients.
