Conversion confusion?

    Hi all,
I've been looking into conversion tracking for one of my Adwords/Analytics websites.

I've seen that I can either set up tracking within Adwords or Analytics. I read that Adwords only tracks conversions with a 30day window so I decided to try out Analytics conversion tracking using "goals".

As soon as I set up my goal in Analytics my Adword account automatically changed so that it now has the following columns "Conv. Rate", "Cost/Conv" and "Conversions"; magic I thought!

However, this is where I'm getting confused...

In Analytics, when I analyse my "Adword Campaigns" I can see goal conversion statistics for my Adwords campaigns. BUT, the values in the corresponding conversion fields in the Adwords account are all zero! Is that because those fields in Adwords are for Adwords type conversions only (i.e. not Analytics goals) - if so, why did Adwords automatically add those fields when I set up my goals in Analytics. Arrgggggghhh! My brain hurts....

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

    Joel
