Conversion are good, but is the traffic?

My brother-in-law and I operate a site (www.buckaball.com). We have been tracking our Google Analytics account and in the last 30 days, we've had 3,542 "absolute unique visitors". This has given us 71 orders. This is a 2% conversion rate. Not fantastic, but still good for a two year old site.

    My questions are simple:

What can be done on this site to convert more and what can I do to get more visitors?

Good looking site there. I think im going to sign up as a affiliate.

Have you tried placing Tex Links or Banner ads on high traffic sports forums.

I promote Vertical Jump programs and i have had a lot of success with that.

That is a pretty sleek site, bacweb! Maybe showing slashed prices along with the sale, such as "It was $29.95, but now it's $24.95!!" or something. Show them the deal for them. Some people need it written out of how much they are saving if they buy from you. My 2 cents.

    :D

    Peachy,

Great idea! I'll see what I can do to add the percentage of savings on the different products on the home page.

Your "add to cart" buttons do not line up due to the various sized thumbs. I think that looks unprofessional and would likely click back to my search engine to try the next one in the SERP.

I (and many like me) are VERY hesitant to buy anything online, especially if it's not a major site, or one I've not heard from by word of mouth. If a site is not PERFECT then that site is skipped for the perfect one...which of course is not always the safest route, but at least I feel better passing my payment info to a site that 'looks' good.

Another turn off for me is the keyword stuffing at the bottom. While I can understand the importance of that last paragraph there, it does look like you are striving to be better then you are.

I would rather see another line of things for sale there...

To replace the missing SERP potential, write up a page for each of those keywords, then link to the sales page for the word and the home page. This will place more relevant pages in the search engines and potentially increase your traffic/sales. It'll also get rid of the supposed penalty for keyword stuffing (Google does say that is bad, right?)

I'd buy something, but I hate sports ;)

Nice site. Here are my suggestions:

    - offset the content to the left slightly. Centered is ok but sometimes it's a pain to read when the CONTENT is too far right because of the menu on the left.

    - Align your products and buy now buttons on the front page

    - Prices in BOLD RED to make it easier to see, larger buy now buttons

    - Scrap the keyword stuffing, there's better ways to do it.

    - Move your Popular Items list to the TOP of your nav menu

    - Add more items to the front page (popular items)

    - You might want to make your website have a dynamic width... stretching for larger screens and allowing for MANY more items to be viewable by your visitors.

That's a start, there's a lot you can do but these jumped out at me the most.

PS: Traffic -- promote sales and buy text links on popular sports sites and blogs.
