Hi there. I use the conversion tracking code as well in Adwords as in Analytics. But the number of conversions in Adwords doesnt match with the number of conversions (from CPC) in analytics. Anyone who can say/help something about this subject? thnx
I would trying looking over a specific time period in the past (for example the last week of last month). There can be delays between both Adwords and Analytics meaning that you could never work out the accurate stats between them both. Therefore you need to looks at stats that are really set in stone.
hi thanx for your answer. Already did that And still differences occur. But is this problem very rare? thnx
The only problem I could think of is the fact that your conversion tracking code may be set up on a different page to what the Analytics code it set up on. Is there a big difference between the figures?
How have you setup the Google Analytics goal? Is the conversion page the same one that you installed the AdWords conversion tracking? Which one is reporting the most (or is it inconsistent)? You can sometime see inflated figures in Analytics (which may well match up with Google AdWords conversion tracking "transactions" (rather than conversions)).
hi, thanx for all your time/comments. First of all, is the beta segment 'commercial traffic' (free translated from dutch) the same as the CPC traffic? Further, I have setted up 3 Analytics goals (just urls) and put the tracking code on the smame 3 pages for Adwords. Analytics is showing less conversions than Adwords. It differs for about 8 conversions and this difference is not consistent in comparison with other periods. Still, Adwords keeps to report the most conversions. Still when i compare, Analytics seems to report the right number of conversions. So there must be something wrong with the tracking code of Adwords. Did check the code, but that is all okay.. Anyone? btw i am using a CMS thnx again!
I have noticed some differences as well when I look at the amount of clicks I receive on my adds and the amount of traffic that actually shows up in analytics. this though may have to do with bounce rate. perhaps the analytics code doesn't get a chance to track a visitor if they bounce off the page quickly?
I know for a fact that a lot of these statistics are slightly estimated. Take the AdWords Keyword Tool for instance; you'd think that Google would be able to tell you an estimated search volume a little more accurately, I've seen estimates change by a degree of 100 in a day...
It is either an error in the code or a bounce. If the code is in the footer and a visitor bounces before the entire page loads the conversion won't register. It is odd that AdWords is higher. If it was lower I wouldn't be as surprised at all since AdWords is not tracking organic.
