Check out this hilarious cartoon. Hits the nail on the head. Edit: Damn; for some reason, I'm not able to upload the image here. So, check out this link. http://juanfont.eu/logica.html
You are missing the point. The point is an inability to prove that something doesn't exist isn't evidence that it does. If someone makes a claim, Such as that god exists, Someone else's inability to disprove it's existence isn't a valid reason to hold the belief.
Jesus history was recorded by eye witnesses. If you choose not to accept the facts, that is not a "lack of evidence". Sounds like a lack of knowledge or understanding.
The bible is evidence that jesus exists just like the harry potter books are evidence that Hogwarts exists. It's a 2000 year old book of myths compiled by goat herders and mentally ill shepherds, it's laughable that you think this primitive text is evidence of anything other the credulity of believers. You are still missing the point though. Someones inability to disprove something is still not evidence that it is real and supports the assertion in no way what-so-ever. doing a 180 and changing the subject doesn't reduce how incorrect you are and how badly you missed the point. You are out of your depth here.
To gain fanatical converts requires certain organizational and doctrinal characteristics. "What Pascal said of an effective religion is true of any effective doctrine: It must be 'contrary to nature, to common sense and to pleasure.'" "It is obvious, therefore, that in order to be effective a doctrine must not be understood, but has to be believed in. We can be absolutely certain only about things we do not understand. A doctrine that is understood is short of its strength. Once we understand a thing, it is as if it had originated in us. . . . The fact that they understand a thing fully impairs its validity and certitude in their eyes." http://www.fluxneo.com/llbarnhart/hoffer.htm
Reminds me of a quote "Power comes from lying. Lying big, and gettin' the whole damn world to play along with you. Once you got everybody agreeing with what they know in their hearts ain't true, you've got e'm by the balls."
