Can i control the direction that a drop-down menu open up?

I think it's impossible and i have a big problem with a site i've just redesigned and the drop-down menu is huge and takes the whole above the fold/center of the page, therefore i can't put any adsense ads there.

In the old design i've made a decent revenue from adsense and now with the new design i had to put the ads on the sides and below the fold and the revenue went down drastically.

If i could make the drop down open only down i could put ads above it or something..

    Any idea ?

You could make your manu as an unordered list, and have sub-menus shooting off to the right to divide your links up a bit so the main dropdown menu isn't so big. Or move you menu over to one side and have the dropdowns come out sideways, like the Past lives link on here: http://www.meaningofdreams.org for instance.

Thanks. Do you have a link to such code / script ?

http://www.meaningofdreams.org is not exactly what i need. Mine is one level drop down - a list of many radio stations to choose from, so i can't make it sideways/vertical - must be horizontal.
