I'm newbie in the world of link building n therefore googling my way to knowledge. However, I'm finding contrasting views. If I link to a site and they link back, or they link to another site that links back adlib, what is the result? some say this is wrong according to google, yet everyone is asking for a link back..?!! I'm trying linking for www. a-zkenya.info, a Kenya news, travel, accommodation and sports site
link exchange is one of the strategy to get better PR and SERP. However, you gotta remember that those low quality site or link farm will never help, only do link exchange with quality site in your niche
Thanks a bunch. By the way, as Iwas submitting my site to Google n yahoo, I found some sites that offer o submit urls to over 40 search engines & directories and it seems they actually do coz since then, I'm receiving several unsolicited emails from these 'search engines' -needless to say many of them are seo 'guys' looking for my business.
It's not white hat. It used to be what everybody did, but Google hates it. You can reliably increase your PR by trading with any sites that match your PR. This used to mean easy ranking for keywords, but now when people link exchange they end up with a PR5 or 6 or whatever they want, but no real relevance, no trust, no authority so it ends up being pointless.
What's a quality link? How about one that's relevant to your site? Or how about a PR 7 link that's completely unrelated to your site? I bet you would still take the PR7 link though. Am I right? You can get lots of link by placing a directory on your website that works for you 24/7 round the clock. If you get some links that you think are not relevant or beneficial then you can just delete them. There are many ways to get links, and some require more effort than others.
There are 3 types of link exchange: 1. One-way link exchange: Backlink from directory submission, social bookmarking, blog posting, forum posting etc. is known as one-way link exchange 2. Two-way link exchange or reciprocal link exchange: Exchange link with your related website 3. Three-way link exchange: There are 3 sites involved in it. A links to B & B links to C & C links to A Link exchange helps to give a qaulity backlink if you are exchange it with related & high pr website
Initially you should give this a read through first to get yourself cleared up on backlinks - building backlinks. With that out of the way, yes you're right when you say that link exchanges are disapproved by Google. Google does not approve of this as they are voluntary link exchanges done by website owners themselves. The end result being penalized if you get discovered. Though the chances of this happening is slim, many people use link exchanges in the early stages to get their site up in search engine result pages. Hope this helps.
It looks like the whole link building business is in a state of turmoil. After link banners, reciprocal links, no follow blog comments, who knows what the next big thing will be?
