My fax machine recently died. I am a little concerned with executing consulting contracts without one-- and looking at freelancing sites more for gigs in order to bypass this issue. Yes, fax machines are inexpensive and I should get a new one-- just wondering what other independent contractors are doing without fax machines? Q.
More and more attorneys are using pdf's as signed originals. While there is actually a law that allows fax signatures, the law has not caught up to pdf's yet. Many lawyers are ignoring this and accepting pdf's. However, if you are deeply concerned, by adding a clause to the contract that says a pdf signature is acceptable to the parties, then it is a legal signature. ________________________ Andrew M. I've actually printed out a contract, signed it, photographed it, sent them the photo, and been good to go.
I use my fax machine as a foot rest under my desk, it works great! pdf is the tinker nowadays - and like joebert said. sign it, take a good pic, send that.
