Can someone give some advice where i am going wrong. i have a niche matrimonial website. The home page shows the matrimonial section. The site also features poetry, ecard, and flash games and other sections. I have registered and been accepted for google adsense and decided to put the ads in the sub pages... namely the flash games section. I have decided on the particular ad and insterted in the relveant place in the games section. However, instead of getting contextual ads related to games its showing ads for the matriomonial sites. .. as seen below : I was under the impression google looks at the context of the page and shows ads related to that page.. why isnt it doing so in my case ? thanks in advance.
Wait a week or so. If you just started placing ads on the page it will take a while for Google to pick up on the content of the page. Typically, when Google hasn't yet got a good read on what your page content is all about it will display ads based on a topic that it gleans from your domain name. e.g., if your domain name is 'matrimonial-stuff.com', Google will serve up ads related to 'matrimonial stuff'.
thanks for the advice guys. is this still the case even though the pages its displaying the ads on are indexed in google ? and my top level domain name has no matrimonial relevance. so what i am curious about is how has google decided in putting matrimonial ads in the games section ? has it just looked at the home page and guessed thats what the other pages will be all about ?
I get that a lot also. It might be because of your domain name. If your domain name is matrimonial related, it'll show those kinds of ads. Really annoying, I know. <_< Edit: NVM, just read your above post. ^^
Google may not be able to figure out that this page is actually about flash games since I don't see this key phrase anywhere in the content of the screenshot you posted. Try adding a 'flash games' heading to the page and maybe a quick paragraph with some related keywords.
The regular Google spider has nothing to do with the AdSense spider (except that they share a cache), so whether or not a page is indexed by Google has not effect on the AdSense ads.
littlegiant. thanks for the tip, i will certainly try that. thanks to all the others as well. appreciate your feedback.
tlaine so what you are saying, i should effectively wait for the adsense spider to come along and spider my games pages... and then hopefully more contextual ads will be displayed ?
thanks very much nks. just one more question.. if it changes the ad again (eg type of ad, image, colour etc).... will it again revert to the original contextual ad (eg matrimonials) until it spiders the page... as i seem to be experiencing this.. i changed the ad a little, put it up on the page again.. and it shows the matrimonial ads again. can you tell me what you see now.. thanks
As already answered, it takes minimum a week, when adsense actually start displaying ads related to page content.
