Instead of buying a prize, find a company who like to advertise with you, give them a banner for 6 months in return for a prize. Then have a competition which involves users hunting round your site for different pieces of a puzzle, that when put together gives the answer. Hide the parts of the puzzle all over your site, that way you not only get users coming to win the prize, but they need to browse all round your site, so put the puzzle pieces in the parts of the site you want to direct more users to.
