    I just hate the contests like arcade where they can cheat and have no real winners just fake ones for advertisement.

    I've been tagging almost all the contest being held here for a month now and it has come to my attention that 'most' of the contests held were:

    - linkbaits
    - held by dishonest person/ company

    I suggest that we should push through with the 'Hall of Shame list'
    what dya think?

    Well, i think contest holders should pay a monthly task, like 10$/month or smthg like that to dp and when the ch will run away from declaring winners and not paying...the participants will be paid a % from the pool...just a suggestion

    @designers - watermark your entries
    @contest holders - play fair and keep your word, we're keeping an eye on you

    Designers participate on these contests primarily to have fun/ hone their skills or make some extra money, it doesn't mean you have the right to steal their concept/ idea/ work.
    Without the designer's permission/ and or compensation. NO ONE has the right to claim/ copy publish their work.

    @msdriven - dont worry I'll try to put up a thread to protect not only the designers but the buyers/ contest holders too.

    This definately needs some type of monitoring. Please also add the designers that rip concepts in part or whole as well with no regard to the designer nor the contest holder.

    ^ Not sure about your comment Xpressions. if a design has been obviously ripped off, ie EXACTLY the same, then yeah they should be. i've won a contest where i took a concept from someone else, as the contest holder said that we should all go down this path and use this certain idea, so that was in fact ripping one of the designers concepts, but doing it in my own way.

    I'm all for monitoring total rip off's, as i wouldnt like any of my designs totally snatched, but for minor things i think it's alright, it should just be taken as a compliment that people like your design so much they want to use a concept from it.

    I agree with Speno, after all, the aim of a contest is to produce the best logo possible, if that means working on one concept, then why not?

    I was actually referring to the blantant rips, but since it's brought up.........

    If the contest holder requests something specific in his original brief, surely we will see many similar concepts. However, if it's not specified and if a designer posts a concept the catches the contest holder's attention, the designers, as well as the contest holder, need to respect said designer's intellectual property (designers recycle "losing" entries....it's a shame to have all logos starting to look the same which is a losing scenario for the contest holders). Contest holders should not request designers to copy each other (in part or in whole) and even if requested, good ethics dictates the designer not to do so. Please, I am not referring to something that is so obvious, ex: Global Something, where we will see 100 iterations of some type of sphere....or .TV where you will see just about every t.v. imaginable....But, if a design pops up with something that is extra special - a square globe or a triangular t.v.- which makes the contest holder pay close attention, then it's unique enough for others to respect it and not copy.

    Just wondering: Could we use this thread and start posting up the contest holders usernames along with the link of abandoned or unresolved contests? I sift through pages, but, I can't keep up sometimes. Maybe it would help all of us.......?
