is there any guidelines on how to beef up the content of the web page as well as not to look like a spam by doing this?

    Hi,

your question is very open and difficult to answer, but I think a good place for you to start would be to read Google's webmaster guidelines, and then maybe to do a Google search for "seo tutorials for beginners".

    Cheers,
    Paz.

When I build a website I usually take an entire weekend and sit down and research my specific keyword phrase and topic. I read all of the content on my competitors pages, and read content on the general nature of the subject as well.

Then I go ahead and from memory write up articles for the site, looking up specific statistics, ect. when necessary. Be sure to include your sources though!

You could hire a content writer or two... Having a couple pages with truley unique content will help 'beef up' your content and will not look like spamming at all...
