    By "real English writer," do you mean an actual British citizen? If not, then I humbly request you to go through the sample that I had sent you. You might find it to be good.

    British citizen doesn't count for much. My mother was one but she left the country when she was 2 months old and never returned except as a tourist. How long are you in India for?

    British citizenship means everything if you are looking for writing jobs that pay an acceptable amount. For example, Arabule was looking for a "real English writer," NOT just someone proficient in the language. :p
    I have been in India for about 29 years, by which I mean my entire life! Where did she go to after leaving UK? If I may ask of course.

    She went to NZ - which in the writing context means she was still in an English as a first language country, however in the OP's context it shows that citizenship means little.
    I suspect what @Arabule means by "real English" is someone who has English as their first or dominant language.

    FWIW I know kids here who have Maori as their first language and don't have significant exposure to English until they're about 10. They do ok, because a) they're bright; and b) English is the dominant language at school, on TV etc.

    I know what he means, but just could not help myself from pointing out the obvious joke. :p
    The main language of the region in which I grew up is called "Bengali," but my first language is English as I went to a school that taught everything in English. An outsider would be surprised with the ethnic and lingual diversity that we have over here in India. :)
