Pendulum Immersion

Drum and Bass is a genre of music that emerged in the mid 1990s during the UK rave scene. This was characterized by break beats usually between 160-190 bpm (beats per minute).

Many bands / artists during this period used Drum and Bass genre with MC's and ragga-style. Following the footsteps Pendulum as a band from Perth, Australia has emerged to be an upcoming and successful band using D&B genre and incorporating rock-oriented sounds.

The brainchild's of the band are producers Rob Swire, Gareth Mcgrillen and Paul Harding. This was in the year 2003 when they released the single “Vault”. A huge success that led to multiple other singles being produced and releasing their debut album “Hold Your Colour” in the year 2005.

The member of the band consists of Rob Swire – Lead Vocalist and Synthesizer, Gareth Mcgrillen – Bass and Secondary Vocals, Paul Harding on the turntables, Paul Kodish – drums, Ben Mount – MC and lastly Peredur AP Gwynedd on the guitar.

A brief history into the founder of the band “Pendulum”.

Rob Swire – An Australian, born and raised in Perth was a fine musician extending his skills in song writing, lead singer and also worked as a record producer.

He met his fellow band mate Gareth in 1999 and later in 2002 met Paul Harding a DJ and all three set out to form the band “ Pendulum”.

Hold Your Colour (2005) became one of the best selling D&B albums that drew attention not only in the UK where they set out in 2003 but also in Australia. This was re-introduced in the year 2007 with “Blood Sugar / Axle Grinder” which entered top 40 of the UK Chart for the first time and moved up the charts at position 29.

Second album that made the band popular was “In Silico” that was released in the year 2008 by Warner Music in Australia and Europe and in the US Market by Atlantic Records.

It was in this album that “Pendulum” incorporated more of Rock and Electronic influences. This change in style and music took the band to number 2 in the UK charts in the same year.

Songs that were released as part of the album were titled “Granite”, “Propane Nightmares”, “The Other Side” and “Showdown”.

The name of the album “In Silico” meant - “Via a computer simulation or performed on a Computer”. It was also commented by Gareth that this carried shades of meaning relating to being born “Synthetically”.

Now that with two successful albums and hit singles that heated up the UK charts at positions such as 40 > 29 and 2, the band has announced their 3rd album titled “Immersion”. One of the tracks announced by the band that is part of the album is “Ransom”. The album will be released post their tour of the UK for the same album albeit sometime in the year 2010.
