Content Stolen - What should I do?

Discussion in 'Legal Issues' started by HiLoRoller, Nov 2, 2007.

Found one of my posts on another website.

My post was copied word for word, no credit was given to me and he is using my hosted pic.

    What should I do?

(I'm very tempted to mess with the pic)

Update: I'm pretty sure the content thief is DP member "hqBuyer". Considering he is promoting this site and it's in his Sig.

Mess with the pic, that'll teach him :D

Or you could do the 'proper' thing of reporting to his hosting company and getting him shut down, of course... :p

If he is using your hosted pic, he is giving you a backlink, so I would recommend you let it be.

Contact him anyway and ask him to include a link to the source.

You will both will benefit from it.

File a DMCA report to his web host, if not his web host, go direct to his data center.

Though you could contact him, and warn him you will file a DMCA against him.

    Best way to go.

Teach the thief a lesson and maybe he'll learn not to do it again.

I'd contact him first warning a DMCA if he doesn't remove the content. Then contact his web host to file a DMCA.

Turn the picture into a black BG, and white text saying: this post was stolen from: [your link here]

If you are using a wordpress site then It might be possible that he is scraping your feeds and then all your links and pictures are giving you backlinks so what is worrying you . You are getting freee publicity and your links some quality backlinks as well
