Content Search Question

I have a keyword in a particular "ad group". I do not want it in a different ad group but do need to have it set at a lower PPC than the default bids in the group.

I use the content search for this group.

When I try to adjust the proce for this keyword it only presents one place to adjust it, that is for the "search" bid ppc. Does this turn the content search for that word down to the same amount or does the content PPC remain the default without there being any way to adjust it?

Your ad group keyword bid is combined with any individual keyword bids you have made to determine your final bid when your ads appear on the content network.

Because many keywords are used in content matching, the bids for those keywords are combined to help determine the final bid. This is the basic formula: the total of all keyword bids, divided by the number of keywords. The ad group default bid is used for any keywords that don't have individual bids.

    Here's an example:

Suppose an advertiser creates a new ad group with CPC bidding. He adds four keywords to the group: roses, orchids, tulips and sunflowers.

The advertiser sets a default bid of $0.24 for the ad group, and does not make a separate content bid. He makes individual keyword bids on two keywords: $0.44 for tulips and $1.00 for sunflowers.

The ad group begins running, and the advertiser's ad appears on a content network site about flowers, triggered by his group of four keywords. Here's how the bid is calculated:

    $0.24+0.24+0.44+1.00 ÷ 4 = $0.48

Note that since roses and orchids have no individual keyword bids, they take the ad group default bid of $0.24 for the equation. Those numbers are added to the two individual keyword bids of $0.44 and $1.00, for a total $1.92. That total is divided by four (the number of keywords), for a final bid of $0.48.

So when this ad group is determined to be a good match for a particular content network placement, its bid will be $0.48 for that placement.

    Hope this will help.
