Some how I stumbled across a website (http://seomixed.com) that caught my eye. Well The Page Rank of this site is a PR4 and its only a few months old. As I began to dig deeper I found its a content scrapping site with nothing but duplicate content. So the more I got into it I found that the owner is some dude in Thailand. Well he has about 100 of these content scrapping sites all interlinking with each other creating one giant link wheel. Pretty interesting. But what gets me is that the same articles and content is posted at each site? And they all have a Page Rank of 4 being less than 6 months old? So when you have about 1000k indexed pages per site all giving out links...you can amass some good page rank. Now he has adsense on all sites, but its the Page Rank that gets me. Seems pretty basic....but talking with a colleague of mine she says every link carries some bit of Page Rank no matter how minute. Is this a way to build page rank and ultimately transfer it to your main website? Should I be setting up millions of content scrapping websites with the goal of someday adding real fresh content and trying to rank for keywords? Color me confused....am I doing SEO the wrong way? Is it really only about backlinks? The more the better! He obviously is not concerned with ranking for keywords...but traffic somehow does find its way to these websites. And adsense money is made (I saw a screen shot). Should I be buying domains like "2015fordf150.com" and scrapping content so that in 5 years it will be easy to rank for keywords by adding fresh content and optimizing the site. Since it will be over 5 years old with Page Rank,a ton of indexed pages, and backlinks?
It looks like the main purpose of his sites is to sell text links in his footer. He doesn't seem to get much traffic and probably doesn't care if he gets banned by adsense since his main income comes from selling text links. There is also the possibility that there is some click fraud going on seeing how he has no problems with using black hat methods. So I suppose it depends on what you want to do. Building PR isn't that difficult, it's getting real traffic that is the chore.
Yes, PR simply is a case of inbound links ... he must be getting links from outside of his site though .... Imaging 4 sites each with no PR .... where would the PR come from to be dispersed throughout the other sites? No, you shouldn't be thinking of doing this ... more than likely in 5 years they'll be banned or are you going to be targeting the same phrases that you would be now? Real converting traffic is what you're after, not just PR or indexed pages....
People who game the system get caught eventually, and like someone else said there is a good chance the algorithm will change and he will get busted... It is understandable to try to get every advantage possible, however if there is a risk to it the risk must be weighed against rewards. If this guy has everything on auto-pilot and auto scraps, puts up the content to template page, and uses spam links to get backlinks that are bot run then I guess he's not losing much. For longevity strive to be of value as opposed to short term money.
Man, you have posted this all over the place. I can understand if you are really interested, you post on several forums, but then you post a place or two like this: webmasterclip DOT com/story/content-scrapping-intersite-linking-page-rank-4-wth-am-i-doing-seo-wrong-way where there is no apparent community, all under different user names ... and I have to say, this is beginning to smell like processed pig meat of some kind.
