can i use a content management system for a site i'm planning. it's gonna have hundreds of pages, i was just wondering if a cms will hurt my seo efforts. this cms has clean urls /hello/seeme instead of /hello.php?varr=seeme&g=27

maybe i should do it with html? has anyone used a cms to rank effectively on google

The same basic SEO factors apply for your site, regardless of the contruction of the site (by hand, database, CMS).

If you follow some basic SEO steps, you should be fine with the CMS.

A lot of the newer CMS program are SEO friendly. Does the CMS change page titles for each page or do they all stay the same?

with CMS, you're more productive, but lost some flexibility.

Is there anyway for your cms can make a file with unique .html extension for each page?

I don't know for sure but I don't think your site would be penalized for having a URL like /hello/seeme. That would work just like having a default.htm file in helo/seeme/ correct? As long as the pages are all different.

    Try using this tool.

I think Mambo has quote a few SEO add-on components, though these days most of them do.

Both my newest sites use Mambo CMS.

They are googlebot and msnbot'ed every 48 hours. I have gone from pr0 to pr4 in the first go round (8 weeks). So it's working.

    I love mambo.

    here are my sites:

    www.mostpopularsites.net (8 week old, pr4)
    www.mps-golf.com (2 week old, pr0)

I too use Mambo and use SEF Advanced. I'm a PR4 -- no movement up or down since Mambo. It does make my life easier. I'm still figuring out how to utilize this very powerful CMS.

Glenn -- very nice Mambo template. Did you create yourself?

SEF Advanced it awesome, shame it doesn't work with any of the Mambo forums though :-(

It's not SEF Advanced's job to work with mambo forums. It's the writes of the forums (or any component/module/mambot) to make it compatible with SEF..

That's may or may not be the case, but it's a bit annoying when two of the most popular components don't work together.

I did read a thread recently that said the developers of both tried to get them working together but couldn't so I'm not holding my breath it'll happen sometime soon. It's a real shame as simpleboard is the only decent forum option if you want complete Mambo integration.

Very nice sites. Congrats on getting a nice Pr on both of them. Does mambo come with the directory and artcles components?

    cheers

    Hello,

Wow. Old thread pops back to life.

The answer is no on the article/directory components.

You can go to www.mosets.com for that.
