ive been testing some of my adword campaigns recently tinkering with content network bids and trying it without.
ive found that the content network converts fairly badly compared with advertising next to serps.
do you guys think it is worth it advertising on the content network or do you think there is to many poor adsense grabbing sites making quality poor

Content and search are two very different beasts. You should focus on one and master it before doing the other. Plenty of people make good money on the content network, just be prepared to put the time and effort in to make it work for you. Make sure you do your research!

Totally agree with PPC Icon. They are very different. You should do one before going to the other.

It will depend on the product but normally, I use the search network only. I use the content for a small percentage of campaigns and only if I think it might be worth it. It's not always worth it.

    I agree.

If you are going to do content though, you should also look at the impact it has on the traffic volume and quality you receive in search. Generally I find content has poor conversion rates, but is great for awareness and often increases the volume of traffic coming through search.

I agree with you. I found you need to write your ads different for the content network, if you use the same as for search, conversion is markable lower.

Yes. You may also need to include additional keywords in your content ad group that you would not necessarily want to bid on in search to help Google understand the 'theme' and display your ads most appropriately.
