Hello all you intelligent peoples.....I set up a campaign specifically to test the content network waters.....I have not had success in the past. But you know try.....try.....again! So a few questions: This campaign will not be part of the search network; stricktly content network.....that being said 1) Does match type have any effect? 2) Do negative Keywords play any role? 3) If I target only Texas (my product is only for TX citizens) is there a downside to this? 4) Is it better to have my top 20 performing keywords or 100 keywords that may or may not perform? Or even narrow it down to my best 5? I appreciate everything! You people Rock!
None, they look at the first 50 keywords in the adgroup and try to determine the overall theme based on those only. Match type doesn't matter and anything over 50 doesn't count. Nope. Less volume but probably better conversions if it's for people who live in texas only. You can use those to build your adgroups, but it's not a the same as the search network, (not even close). You track things based on the adgroups performance, not individual keywords.
Content considers all the keyword match types as broad. As PPC-Coach said, only the first 50 keywords count in the adgroup. The structure of the adgroup is not similar to search, as all the keywords make up a theme. You are not individually mapping to specific keywords PPC-Coach is wrong on this one... NEGATIVES DO MATTER!!!! And you want to use PPR reports to help find your negative keywords. Run the report and visit the sites your shown own. Find keywords on those sites you find irrelevant and add them to your negatives. You can also negative sites out that you absolutely do not want to be displayed on. Also, your initial launch will probably not be profitable, you have to optimize content to a good performing level with negative keywords and sites No, there is only positives for this. You will limit spend and CPA will be more controllable. I highly advise it You should use your top performing keywords, but probably not in the way you are thinking. DO NOT dump your top 50 keywords into 1 adgroup. This is not how content works. Take your top keyword and then build 1 adgroup around that keyword, using an additional 10 - 20 keywords to describe it. If your top keyword was DATING then your adgroup might look like this dating online dating online internet internet dating tips advice meet man woman life love Hope this helps...
