I am running a very successful campaign on the search network paying 10-20 cents per click and averaging about 800% ROAS. I'm averaging position 2.2 with this bid price. Now, I'm trying to mirror this campaign across the content network. I took all my keywords (38) and moved them into a content campaign. All 38 keywords are essentially derivatives of one phrase so they are all in one ad group. I set the max CPC to 10 cents and in 24 hours, I've only had 43 impressions with 0 clicks and an average position of 6.2. Now, my question is am I going about this the right way? The search network has very little competition for the terms I'm bidding on. Shouldn't I be able to get clicks for less on the content network? thanks for the help guys. I will admit that I'm no expert at the content network. I've messed around with placements before but not keywords. I really appreciate any insight some of you experts can bring to my campaign. Scotty
Well I am not using the content network but I can help you a bit. To get more clicks you need positions 1-3 on the content network,so you need to bid more. You can expect something like 1 click from 500 impressions, that is average on the content network, more or less.
I did a really detailed post about the content network here: http://www.adhustler.com/google-content-network-strategy/ follow the instructions and you WILL see success.
Thank you both for your responses. That helps. I have done what you said and should see the traffic increase. I was averaging position 6.8 which is pretty low and probably why I didn't see any clicks. I will adjust to get into position 1-3. What kind of conversions do you guys see from the content network? I know every niche is different but how does it compare to the search network? If I'm seeing a ROAS of 800% on the search network, should I be able to replicate that on content? I guess my question is, "Do content clicks convert as well as seach?" Thanks, Scotty
