I just started a new campaign 24 hours ago. I would like a lot of clicks from the content network but I am getting hardly anything. My budget is $200/day and I've set the max content CPC to $1.00, but I've only seen a miserable 7 clicks. Whilst the search network has 50 (with $1.00 CPC aswell). Just to put it in perspective, I have another campaign going at the moment. It's not quite as big as the aforementioned but it recieves in excess of 500 content clicks every day and just 50 search clicks. It's been the same for as long as I can remember. Oh, and my average content CPC is just $0.17. Now, both niches are different - yet similar and I would expect similar amounts of traffic. I'm just wondering, how can I only recieve such a small amount of clicks on one campaign, and hundreds on the other? Will the clicks pick up over the next few days you think? $1.00 clicks are way too high in this niche. However, I thought I could start high and to get to the top and eventually decrease, obviously something isn't working. Sorry about the long post, I really need some help! Brett
With content network is takes a bit of time for the clicks to start picking up. Wait 2-3 days, and you'll be getting the expected clicks.
increase your cpc for content for short time and watch if any change in traffic. then change campaign setting accordingly.
Content is a little tricky... First up, it does take about 24 - 48 hours for google to map your content to sites, so be patient on that part Secondly, content does not work like search network and require a completely different setup. Also it is very common for CTR on the content network to be 0.15% or even 0.01% CTR. Content QS does not place as much focus on CTR as search network does. Make sure your adgroups are setup properly when using the content network 1. make sure content campaigns are separate from search, don't just flip the switch 2. make sure your adgroups only contain 10 - 30 descriptive keywords about where you want to be shown. Content is not keyword sensitive. 3. The keywords used in your adgroups are to paint a picture not state a fact so an adgroup might look like this for dating dating online dating women men online match single singles online singles as you can see, you would never normally include these terms in normal search, but in content network they are essential for lots of traffic 4. Make sure you pay attention to spend and budgets 5. Run PPR report frequently if not daily to find sites that are irrelevant hope this helps
Robert, thanks heaps for the in-depth reply! + rep I was originally under the impression that content clicks start flooding in straight away it's good to know that they'll pick up later. Secondly, you made me realise that my keywords are just too specific hence getting less impressions. I'm off to start a new campaign now.... I'm still worried about the CTR as it's just 1/10th of my other campaign. Hopefully it will increase a bit over the next few days. Thanks again, really appreciate it, Brett
Robert, after tweaking yesterday, I have just killed off the little traffic that I had?? I've recieved just 3 clicks today and the impressions are extremely low too. What have I done??
