What do you guys typically see for CTR's on the content work? I have some campaigns I've been seeing about 0.25% and others that are like 1-2%...

My search campaign gets 3 to 4% CTR and content gets a fraction of a % when I’ve tried it. Problem is, content gets me squat for conversions where search gets me nice results. I don’t use content anymore. I don’t really even break even with it. My product just isn’t good with content.

My highest is 4%, my lowest is 0.008% (now that's low!).

It doesn't matter though - it's about getting profitable conversions.

The CTR on the content network will be variable depending on a number of factors such as how well the ads target the keywords, how rabid the niche is and what keyword 'match' you are using.

Exact and phrase usually has higher CTR's but often less overall traffic if that makes sense?

Content can certainly be profitable but needs careful management.

Bottom line is always your return on investment (ROI) with your campaigns.
CTR can usually be tweaked up by ad split testing and use of AdGroups with small numbers of similar keywords with very targeted ads that use the keyword in the heading and the description wherever possible.

AdWords offers the option of "Placement-targeted" ads that will appear only on the content network on the specific sites you select.

They don't appear on Google search result pages or on other sites in the Google Network. Instead of targeting by specific keywords, you can target your ads to specific categories, entire sites or portions of sites, topics, and user demographics.

    Might be worth a consideration.

    Good luck.

actually match type makes no difference on the content network. This is why you really need to do your homework on content. Mistakes likes these can be costly

    Quoting search engine watch

"Remember: match type is irrelevant in content keyword lists, so all keywords are broad-match."

And I have confirmed with Google.

It really depends on lots of factors. The more tightly niched and themed your adgroup is the better the CTR will be. Sometimes in the 1% - 2% range.

Other times CTR is 0.001%... It just depends on the niche, the sites, where the ad is placed, and hundreds of other factors.

For this reason google has put little to no relevance on CTR for QS. So don't really worry about what the CTR is, just worry about volume of clicks and ROI when it comes to content
