Content Match = eroding profits

So I finally decided to check the Content Match box and try it out. My profits immediately plummeted. I:mad: stuck it out for two days, barely breaking even each day. Then I unchecked C.M. and my profit shot up again.:)

Is there any way to make Content Match workable? Anybody have a "rule of thumb" for how to proportionally price C.M. bids versus their Search bids?

My personal rule of thumb is that content ads should be somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3 of the search bids cost

I have them at 25% of the search term bids.

As long as you are able to get real clicks... ones that at least show up in your statistics as visitors... make them as low as possible. I like to drop the maximum CPC while keeping the average placement somewhere in the 4-6 range.

However, you really have to try to think about the sites that you might be appearing on and what their visitors will be doing. It's not the same as having a user search for a term as it, the term, may simply be one of the topics or themes of the page they are on.

start with ur 10 important keyterms with 1/2 of the actual bid....and observe it....and see whether its good or not......imply this step for atleast 40-50 keyterms...............hope it wud work 4 u ...........because it works well for me:)

My experience with content match is that the traffic quality is generally rubbish. I don't bother with it any more.
