Well, I prefer the automation of a content management system, but sometimes you do need to know hard coding because it is handy.....

But, some type of automation and management is always better and faster so I prefer a management system.

Hard coding is a bit outdated, I prefer living with the times.

I prefer coding things over using a cms. I've given joomla and some others a try but they just aren't for me. It all depends on how large the site is going to be really. There's always the option to use wordpress or something simpler instead of coding things yourself or using a cms.

CMS for me all the way..
    Why?
Less up-front work.. and i'm too stupid to hardcode anything 1/2 has good.. Why re-invent the wheel?

Appears I have been wasting my time all the while.

I have been too obsessive upon the need to control everything, ewwww...

Wordpress is excellent. Only a CMS-like theme for it is top of the world! I have when it stamps date on every post or article.

If you can find a nice clean CMS which you like by all means use it. You can edit your website online from anywhere without having to worry about FTPing etc. Obviously your own hard coded CMS can do *exactly* what you want as you wrote it and it is custom to your website. I think the main problem with some CMS is that they try to do everything and become clunky and hard to use...

For the simplicity reason sake, I prefer to use CMS for nearly all of my websites.
Wordpress and WebsiteBaker are two of my favorites engines ;)
