I have a client that wants to rank for a certain keyword, currently he doesn't list with the first 100. The website that has the no.1 listing has only 36 backlinks while my client has over 1000 backlinks to his page. This shows 2 things: 1. That the quality of backlinks is more important than the quantity 2. That content optimization is very important because the site listed number one for this keyword has its content highly optimized while my clients isn't.
I agree with point no. 1 as well. Quality of backlinks rather than quantity. What would you rather have, and which one would give you more traffic?? One link from google.com home page VS one million links from link farms? ...
you missed one very very important point with google... age of site/domain is also important. the #1 site is probably much more established that your client's site
Is this a question and answer thread or something else? News? It's pretty obvious that quality links are far better than quantity and content is certainly king. Col
can't agree with you. have a site that ranks top 10 for major keywords and has few links, altought good ones, and is quite new, 6 months old.
Backlinks are key to top placement, of course stronger links on authority sites are better. But there is other things that could make that rank difference as well. For instance, how many site pages are indexed? Internal links?
Yea content is certainly the king of getting to the top. Theres no point having a website and the users can't do anything on it!
