So I've heard over and over that content is everything, but I'm a hair confused on what exactly this means. I'm developing a social networking site that puts a new spin on what's already out there. Does this qualify as content? Like, is this what you guys are talking about when you say provide good content, and they will come? My site won't exactly have a lot in the way of me writing things for people to read, but more deals with functionality and options available to each user. These sorts of things will keep them coming back, not the content I have on my face page. Would it be wise still to impliment a developers blog or something? I dunno, need some opinions.
You can write an article about your social networking site and submit it somewhere. That can probably generate more people. Also, try to create new systems which people will come back to your site for.
Content isn't everything. What people mean is that unique content is VERY important for your site. It won't take long for search engines to flag your site as spam if it is full of duplicate content.
I see what you guys are saying. So implimenting "comment" and "blog" systems, as well as other outlets for my users to express themselves, will be the content of my site; as well as their profiles and information. I do believe that the method in which my site works is so different than other sites, that it will be unique enough to keep visitors returning. The problem, is the basis of this new approach, depends upon the site having a solid foundation of users; which means in the short-term, the site could take a while to get off its' feet. This is where advertising and getting the name out there comes into play, and really, is where submitting articles on the site to PRWeb and eZine sites is more vital. Quick question though, more about the technical side of things. In order for users to view content and profiles, they have to be logged in... this is going to cause problems for the SE. Spiders isn't it? Also, my site structure utilizes a centralized layout page (index.php) and all other pages are loaded through it with php includes (ie. "index.php?page=login") --- Do the spiders know how to navigate through this? Would it be advisable to allow non-registered users to view content, but not interact with it? Thanks for the information, and I love this forum! Spencer
Yes, up to some extent content is every thing. If your content is unique, keyword rich and seo friendly, certainly these things would help your site to rank higher in the SE’s. This would in turn help in driving some quality traffic to your site.
First, you need content that will convince your customers that you are the perfect business for them. They need to look and see that you offer exactly what they are looking for and that you are a business they can trust. Internet users typically look at a website for 5-10 seconds and within that time they determine whether or not they want to stay or go back and look for another business. This means that your content needs to be set up in an easy-to-scan manner and the content needs to be convincing enough for Internet users to believe in your company. Every headline and every sentence needs to be perfectly written. Second, optimized web content will improve your rankings in the search engines. Keywords determine success in today’s Internet era. If you sell kids furniture and you only mention it one time throughout your content you will most likely not be placed at the top of the search engines for the keyword phrase “kids furnitureâ€. Optimized content combined with an optimized website will dramatically increase your chances to be indexed highly in the search engines for your given keyword phrase. Web content can determine success or failure. SEO Copywriters have 2 important skills that will increase your website’s success: • They know how to create effective content that glorifies your business • They know how to optimize web content and the other important areas of your website such as the title-tag, site description, keyword list, alt-tags, anchor text etc.
Content isn't everything, but it's a big part. If you are starting a social networking site I don't think it's so much content as it is originality. There are so many social networking sites out there and if you don't come up with something fresh people will just pass it by.
In my opinion, content is very important, but seo is important too, if you have a website and the content is good, but nobody know it,it is nothing, so you should have a good content and make people know it,submit to bookmark site, write articles to recommed it.
Content is one of the ingredients needed to have a successful site. And it needs to be combined with other things. Like different marketing techniques so that people can find it. And of course set up properly from an SEO standpoint. It's like any recipe, you need to have ALL of the ingredients included in the proper proportions, to end up with a good finished product. So content is a great place to start and tweak as you go!
Contents here should not be limited to pure texts or pictures of your website.I think it also means the structure and kinds of function of your website. In this way,we can uderstand that sentence. But sentence is just sentence. People who said that may only want to mention the importance of it.It's not absolute but necessary.
No, traffic is king while content is right behind as the Queen IMHO. It's the age old chicken or the egg question and will be argued about as long as the internet is around. While having great content can make the best of the traffic you get.... having traffic, and plenty of it, is what makes that content work for you. The most beautiful content rich site in the world doesn't do you a damn bit of good if you can't get the eyeballs to it to monetize it.
Content is not some magic pill that will immediately get search engine sit up and listen to your site. Content is king is definitely true. Holds so true for my content website. But for your website, assuming it is some kind of a facebook with a twist, users are the king. Let me assume that this is another FB. Then, definitely search engine is not the medium to promote, so cut the part that says "write unique content". What you need is users and lots of them. To do that, see how you can get so many of them, how you can make your site attractive, etc. There are more things that I can tell if I know what your site is about. PM me, I can give some real solid advice for free
Your program and instructions, promotions, etc., are your content to begin with. Just like videos are a major part of youtube's content. You need text content for Google to know who and what you are. SEO this text to help Google know what it is you are about. Use all of the rest of the things everyone has mentioned. (articles, blogs, etc..) Traffic is king? Seems like putting the cart before the horse imho. Good content and good marketing = good traffic Having a ton of traffic to a heavy metal band site from people looking for medical advice serves little purpose it seems like.
