Absolutely no relation? Kidding me? So if I had no content I would still have 100 pages indexed? If what you're saying is true, then I can ping any site i want to get indexed? lolz. I get 13-20 hits a day from search engine traffic. My page has been up for 1 week and 1 day on my new vps.
The pages of course must be there to be index but the QUALITY of the content is not relevant to indexing. Google does have algorithms the check for text structure, so a list of random words may be problematical, however if you make a page of structurally correct sentences google will index the page. The quality of the content is however relevant to SERPS and traffic, having quality content is why you're getting the hits, well done. YES, You can ping any site that has an rss feed and it will be spidered and indexed quickly. After all a blog is just a site with an rss feed. You can ping a site that doesn't have a feed but there's litle point as it doesn't then seem to trigger googlebot to spider deeper. Googlebot will usually fetch the pinged page within minutes of the ping and look for an rss feed as an 'alternate' format. If there is a feed googlebot will fetch it immediately. Having the feed seems to trigger googlebot to spider the site from the pinged page.
