I'm going to try and see how far basic, good content will get a site these days. I am going to create a Luxury Vehicle website with at least 100 pages and upload it, and submit it to Google and see if I can get any hits without using any backlinking. Do you guys think I will be able to earn any hits? I will of course use SEO.
I think this will be very interesting. However, you need to define your approach a little more. When you say a basic good content site, is throwing up 100 pages at a clip a basic good content site or will it look spammy? Maybe you should add 5 pages to start with and then add 1 page per week. Just a thought, not saying to do that. I just think that the goal needs to be defined before implementing it. I think that a basic site would not throw up 100 pages and forget about it. With that said, if your goal is to simply have a site with that many pages, a set it and forget it, then send it into the wild and let's find out. I think it would be really interesting to see how an un-updated site would fare in the wild. You will have to keep this thread updated to. It would be nice to see the site once it's up and also to see if it gets any juice for being new. I think it would be more interesting to test two new sites with the same theme, same keyword and niche, side by side using different techniques. One that is dropped into the wild as a full site and the other that adds content more slowly. Is that a possibility for you?
I personally believe that without any incoming link, not even submitting your rss or a single bookmark, it doesn't matter how good your content you will not rank. But keep us posted and let's see what happens I might be wrong.
onlyhuman , very good input. I agree, about all of that. If you already have the 100pages please do consider doing two (2x) 50page sites using different techniques as above. A set and forget site and X pages per week/months
content is the king but with no backlinks the experiment will fail. it's like having a treasure hidden somewhere ...
Buddy Google is after Unique and Quality Content only !! So if u have it then no need to run after Google .. it will run after u itself !!
The site can succeed provided there people who need the unique content you post there. The content also needs to be refreshed regularly. And still, the best way to inform google of the existence of your site is getting a couple of backlinks. Anyway, it would be quite interesting to see updates on how your experiment is doing..
Wasn't the entire experiment going to be based on the fact that you will not get any links and only base your SEO submitting the site to google and on quality content? If you start bookmarking, distributing your content, etc, etc, etc than the all experiment won't make any sense.
