Hey folks, I have a quick question about content duplication. I have about 10 different landing pages, each very slightly different and oriented to have a special message to a particular demograph. I would say that the content in each page is 99% identical, with only a few key words and pictures adjusted to fit the specific target audience. Is this likely to get me penalized for my google SERP? Thanks in advance!
I wouldn't say penalized, because if this was the case can you imagine how easy it would be to dominate your competition? Instead, I would say that you will probably find it extremely hard ranking the pages for any of your target keywords and key phrases. Why don't you hire a rewriter or use an article spinner?
The problem with duplicate content is WHO will rank at the top if the contents of your site are picked up to be presented in SERP. If you have ten identical landing pages as you mentioned you will have some problems in the ranking of your pages. Please read this comprehensive article Google's explanation about duplicate content and hopefully you can work things out.
Thanks for the clarification guys. I think I'm going to follow abstroos's advice and just get the duplication rewrittten. Thanks for the useful link blogger2006.
