Ive found a pretty good keyword phrase to optimize for my first website- sadly its a subject i know little about. So... what i did was copy and paste info from several different sites. I then rewrote each sentence trying to switch up the wording. then added a paragraph of my own. I did this for each page/section. Also i added in my keywords where I could- Is this a decent way of doing this or will search engines still see it as duplicate content?

So basically you are plagerizing someone elses content.

If it doesn't trigger duplicate content, it's still morally wrong.

well how else is there to do it? Even if i spent months researching and taking notes on the subject when it comes time to write content it would still be info learned from others and re-written by me- thats basically how the history of everything we know is retaught and reworded time and time again, Remember this is my first site im building so im still figuring things out.

Sorry for the last post- it makes me look like a idiot, basically what im saying is- im building my first site, i dont want to spend years on it- its just a learning experience, a site that i know little about , im not saying im lazy cause when I get going and build my next site it will be on a subject or hobby i know alot about and i will spend a good amount of time and originality on the content.

well guess this is a touchy subject- just wondering how far one needs to go in order for ones content to be original and not duplicate in search engines

Hey deez, I think you're on the right track, just try and make it as unique as possible. The more you can add in your own thoughts/theories the better. And it sounds like you've changed it enough so NO, the search engines would not detect it. How many people rewrite Wikipedia articles? Um... everyone? :)

    Cheers.
