What does everybody think about this? Is the content writing business here to stay? Sometimes I worry that things are going to change and good content will no longer be needed. Surely I am being paranoid right? After all there is no replacement for good content. Any comments...
I buy content every day of the week. Good content. I'm sure its here to stay. There will always be a market for rewritten spam, but good content will never go out of style, especially online. this is not a solicitation, no pms please
I sincerely hope the search engines find a reliable way to differentiate between good content and keyword-optimised spam. The kind of content I write will always be useful, but it's a difficult business to be in when buyers choose the spam over real content.
Keith, I agree! I have come across the same thing; low prices are hard to compete with especially when the content is poor.
Fortunately I manage to make a good living from the webmasters who are smart enough to understand the value of good content. I hope it's the same for you.
Oh, it'll be here for awhile. We get a lot of customers who are fed up with very low quality writing, and come to us out of necessity. The days of pumping out MFA sites with crap content is slowly coming to an end, and you'll see more and more sites built with quality outsourced content. That's the trend I'm starting to see.
price isnt everything. its not even top 10 when considering an article writer. good copy that adds value is #1 this is not a solicitation, no pms please
It's been here for over a decade that I know of. Can't see it going anywhere. Future stages will evolve towards more refined content as the sophistication of average Internet users increase.
Actually, I think good quality content writing has a bright future. More and more people are going online and becoming comfortable with the internet. The younger generations will graduate from gaming and MySpace to start reading good quality content of all types.
I've just started to buy content. I write most of mine myself though, since most people come to my website from my blog and obviously like my style of writing.
I think the content business will only get better and better as more companies come on board and competition increases.
It's not going anywhere. Just look at the trend in the past year, even DP created a copywriting section recently! I also suspect that soon, even high volume content providers will start increasing their rates, because buyers are starting to realize the importance of quality. Just by talking to some of our clients you can tell that the main concern is often no longer how big a discount he/she can get, but how good the copy will be.
This is pretty much already the case, people understand you get what you pay for. This was our largest month in sales in the two years we have been open and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
I second that. More and more I'm having to turn down jobs, despite my higher rates. The only way to succeed is to produce good quality work. Once you can do that you're set.
I also agree with this statement. You get what you pay for, people aren't fooled by crap content -- at least not the people you want on your sites. I think a lot of site owners are figuring this out fairly quickly, that quality content costs money but is worth it. Content is here to stay. It hasn't been true only the last few years or even decades. Think about it, the written word has been around for millenia and only the good (i.e. viewed as important) survive long term. SPAM and shoddy writing will always be available, but it will not crowd and confuse the market from recognizing quality.
