I think this belongs here... either here or "general marketing". My question kind of has to do with both. Im importing RSS feeds into my site from sources I usually write articles from. Would it be beneficial to just import the feeds to the articles vs. write my own(SEO wise)? Now that the articles are displayed on my site I don't have a whole lot to write on(but theres still a few things). Thanks, Tony
Well, if you're importing feeds and you have identical content, that could hurt you in terms of SE rankings, I believe.
thats what I was thinking, I see it mentioned here. However I am wondering more along the lines of taking out the feeds and writing my own articles based on the information of the articles in the feeds. Creating original content. The facts are the same however the article is different. A site basicly based just on feeds requires almost no up-keep since the content is generated for you. I know there are sites that do just this and rank high. However would original articles be better for the SE ranking? The idea I get is to attract visitors and keep them coming back however if they are just finding the site then leaving wouldn't that be bad for the site? Sorry I am going in all different directions here but I am trying to figure out if it would be bad or good for the site its self to be running mainly feeds vs somewhat original articles.
Why not just create your own original content? Here's my advice look at this popular website. http://www.threadwatch.org/ It will give you idea on whats the best thing you can do.
The first article on that site is exacly what I have been doing. I ran out of completely original content when I ran out of tips to increase gas mileage. So I went to news and such.
Ic... Try subscribing to rss feeds and social bookmarking site.. You will surely get inspirations to them in writing more articles.
